Mistletoe Mule
This Mistletoe Mule recipe is a great holiday cocktail because it’s delish, easy to batch, and oh so festive!
The first cocktail I ever ordered was a Moscow mule. I loved the mule for its quintessential copper mug and ginger beer!
This mistletoe mule gets a holiday twist with cranberry juice and a yummy sage & ginger simple syrup. It’s light and easy to sip on, so it’s perfect for a holiday party or to simply enjoy for yourself! The sage simple syrup gives this cocktail a more developed flavor than a traditional simple syrup, but if you’re in a time crunch, it’s completely optional (but so worth it)!
So let’s get to it!

What You’ll Need To Make a Mistletoe Mule
For One Serving
- 2 oz 100% cranberry juice
- 1 oz orange juice
- 2 oz vodka
- 3/4 oz sage & ginger simple syrup
- 2 oz of ginger beer, to top
- cranberries, sage leaf, and orange zest for garnish
Sage & Ginger Simple Syrup
- 1 cup of honey or sugar
- 1 cup of water
- 6 to 8 fresh sage leaves
- 2″ piece of ginger, sliced
Add ingredients to a saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until the honey/sugar is dissolved and incorporated, about 10 minutes.
Bring to a soft simmer and then take the pan off the heat. Removed the sage leaves and ginger and let the syrup stand until cooled before storing or adding into your mistletoe mule.
Syrup can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for 2 to 3 weeks.
How To Make a Mistletoe Mule
In your mule mug (or drinkware of choice) add the first four ingredients and some crushed ice. Stir to mix and top with ginger beer, fresh cranberries, and orange zest! This recipe can easily be batched to serve to a crowd! I would just add the ginger beer before serving and have an ice bucket on the side so guests can ice their drinks without watering it down.
Cheers Y’all,
