Gin and Elderflower Smash Cocktail

This Gin and Elderflower Smash is the cocktail recipe that proves that “the simpler, the better” vibes is the best way to enjoy the summer season. With the southern heat and humidity, I’ve lately been inspired to create cocktails that fit the summer vibes of simpler, but better.

Let’s be honest. With the heat, we try to find ways of enjoying the summer season without things being too complicated, taking too much time, or requiring too much work. Summer is too gorgeous of a season to overcomplicate things, so why not implement the same mentality with happy hour?

So let’s get to it!

What You’ll Need To Make a Gin and Elderflower Smash Cocktail

for one serving

  • 1.5 oz gin
  • 1 oz elderflower liqueur
  • 2 oz lemon juice
  • 3/4 oz honey syrup
  • 3 dashes of bitters
  • 4-6 mint leaves

How To Make It

In an empty cocktail shaker, add all ingredients and muddle together to release the oils from the mint. Then, add ice and shake until well chilled. Strain your smash cocktail into a glass filled with ice and garnish with a lemon peel and a fresh sprig of mint.

Due to its simplicity and containing my most beloved ingredients, this Gin and Elderflower Smash will surely be on my happy hour rotation this summer! This recipe shows that as long as you use quality products, you can create sensational sips without a long list of ingredients.

One of the things I’ve really been enjoying this year is creating my very own homemade simple syrups! Because of their simplicity and the endless combination of flavors, these homemade syrups give my cocktails a much more fresh and intense flavor verses your standard simple syrup. I recently created a free simple syrup recipe e-book which you can download here!
