Pina Colada

This Pina Colada recipe gets a modern twist with being on the rocks verses the classic blended version. It’s a great summer cocktail because it’s easy to whip up (no blender today) and it’s almost too pretty to sip!

Generally, when you think of a Pina Colada, you picture the classic frozen drink garnished with a cherry and paper umbrella. But we’re not here to make basic cocktails. This more contemporary styled Pina Colada has all the original flavors with a gorgeous facelift.

All you’ll need is a good cocktail shaker, a muddler, and a few ingredients!

What You’ll Need to Make a Pina Colada

Pina Colada
For One Serving
  • 5-6 fresh pineapple cubes or 2 oz of pineapple juice
  • Juice of 1/2 a lime
  • 1 oz of coconut cream
  • 2 oz of dark rum
  • 1 oz of light rum

How to Make It

In a cocktail shaker, toss in the fresh pineapple and muddle until the juices are released. If you don’t have fresh pineapple available, you can just use store bought pineapple juice! Then, add ice and the rest of the ingredients to your shaker and shake for a good 30 seconds.

Pour your pina colada in a cocktail glass (rattan glasses linked here) filled with crushed ice. Garnish with pineapple leaves, a lime wheel, and enjoy!

Pro Tip: Pour any leftover cream of coconut into an ice tray to have on hand when making a blended drink!
