Bluffton, South Carolina Travel Guide

The Bluffton, South Carolina Travel Guide is finally here y’all! I’m so excited to share our favorite spots with you!

A couple of weeks ago, we took a much needed trip to Bluffton, South Carolina for a quick weekend getaway!

Chris and I always love to visit my hometown for some family time, beautiful scenery, and amazing art and cuisine! It’s always been our go to place to relax, recharge, and escape for a little bit.

This guide entails my absolute favorite places and must do’s whenever we come to visit!

Favorite Eats

Corner Perk Coffee Shop

The Bluffton travel guide

Chris and I have a tradition here at Corner Perk. We always come here for breakfast on our first and last morning in Bluffton. Every time I come here, I ALWAYS get the Bacon Basil Biscuit. It is SO good and I can never get enough of them!

It has this heavenly basil aioli with provolone cheese and everything is sandwiched together in a perfectly golden biscuit.

Chris loves their bacon, egg, and cheese bagels and always grabs a bag of his favorite coffee beans for home.

Perfect for a quick, casual breakfast.

FARM

FARM is a newer restaurant here in Old Town Bluffton. The girls and I dined here for my bachelorette party and we were instantly hooked!

The Bluffton travel guide

They have a wonderful bar selection and make some of the most beautiful (and delicious) cocktails! We all couldn’t get enough of their cucumber margaritas and delicious small plates.

The food is incredibly fresh, local, and full of flavor! FARM changes their menu practically every day to let you experience only the freshest ingredients.

I brought Chris recently for brunch and everything we ordered was absolutely incredible! If the weather is nice, I highly recommend reserving a table outside!

Perfect for special occasions, date night, brunch, and elevated dining.

Giuseppi’s

Giuseppi’s has always been the family go to for great pizza and calzones! We love grabbing our pizzas to go and enjoying a relaxing evening at our AirBnB.

Cahill’s

The Bluffton travel guide

My absolute favorite brunch spot! Cahill’s is locally and family owned and they have the freshest fried chicken in town! It’s a really casual restaurant but it’s fun to see the different variety of folks coming in for the chicken!

The Bluffton travel guide

I always get the Kitchen Chicken Salad with Spicy Buttermilk Ranch. It’s my favorite restaurant salad with all the delicious chicken tenders and really fresh greens.

Cahill’s is also known for their fresh produce and local products. Definitely a must even if you’re just passing through!

Perfect for brunch and lunch!

Alljoy Donut Co.

I finally got a chance to visit Alljoy Donut Co. this fall and it’s become my next must have! I’m generally not a donut kinda gal but their seasonally fresh donuts changed me (in the best way)! I highly recommend getting at least a half a dozen variety because you can’t pick just one! The apple cider donut was my top pick but they were all amazing!

Bluffton BBQ

Bluffton BBQ has been around for a number of years and has stood the test of time. This place loves to be referred to as a BBQ joint and not a restaurant, and it’s so worthy of it!

Carolina Style BBQ is my favorite and this place is a great stop to get your fix!

Must Visits

Church of the Cross

The Bluffton travel guide

This historical Bluffton landmark has a special place in my heart. This beautiful church was built in the mid 1800s and survived the Civil War (one of the few buildings in Bluffton that wasn’t burned down). It also happened to be where I went to Montessori school and was the very first church I attended.

The Bluffton travel guide

It also has one of the most beautiful views of the May River (an essential ecosystem to Bluffton). Which brings up my next must do!

Calhoun Street Dock & Wright Family Park

This gorgeous little park is just next door to the church and is the perfect place to enjoy the gorgeous sunsets over the May River! Chris and I came here every day during our last stay to enjoy the views! This beautiful new park also allows you to easily access and explore the marsh!

Historic Calhoun Street

For the best local art and boutiques, look no further than Calhoun Street. Calhoun is the heart and soul of Bluffton and the eclectic mix of old plantation style homes and cottages make it a fun place to shop and explore.

The Bluffton travel guide

Bluffton has a large amount of art galleries with so many different types of artists and styles. You’re guaranteed to find something unique and beautiful here!

The Bluffton travel guide

Calhoun Street has their Farmer’s Market every Thursday!

The Heyward House

If you’re any kind of history buff, the Heyward House Museum is a must! They do wonderful daily tours and talk about the origins of Bluffton and it’s rich history.

The Bluffton Oyster Factory

The Bluffton Oyster Factory has been family owned and operated since 1899. It’s another historical landmark that actually sits on reclaimed land, built up by more than a hundred years of discarded shells from previous shucking operations!

Now, the Bluffton Oyster Factory remains as the last hand-shucking house in the state of South Carolina. It’s a treasure to this town and they have the best fresh seafood market. We don’t get our oysters anywhere else!

Bars

FARM

Like I mentioned above, FARM has a wonderful shelf selection and cocktails paired with an esteemed bartending staff.

Calhoun’s Street Tavern

I also ventured here during my bachelorette party and we loved the outdoor aesthetic and live music!

Old Town Dispensary

Another great location for live music and casual drinks and eats. A local favorite joint for sure! You’ll be able to spot the locals sitting in their golf carts!

Lodging

AirBnB or VRBO

The Bluffton travel guide

I highly recommend renting a home during your stay in Bluffton (and booking way in advance)!

The Bluffton travel guide

Some of my favorite rentals are located in the Stock Farm neighborhood as well as in the heart of Old Town Bluffton. We stayed at this townhouse on Goethe Road at least three times!

The Promenade area is a must if you want the best access for everything downtown!

Old Town Bluffton Inn

I’ve always wanted to stay at the Inn (maybe one day!) but I’ve heard nothing short of wonderful reviews. It’s in the heart of downtown and every room is designed with the Lowcountry in mind. Another great option if renting a house is not what you need!

Coming home to Bluffton is always special and exciting for me. It’s the perfect quick escape and I always feel so inspired and motivated afterwards!
