Bourbon Peach Smash
This Bourbon Peach Smash recipe is a simple yet sophisticated cocktail, perfect for any bourbon lover! Between the fresh lemon juice, homemade honey thyme simple syrup, and fresh summer peaches, this gorgeously balanced drink is the combination of late summer/early fall in a glass!
Bourbon and I have an interesting relationship. I’ve had a bad run in with bourbon a time or two (and it totally being my fault if you get my drift). College days.
Since then, I’ve always been a tad skittish around the one liquor that’s probably the most loved by the South. However, giving bourbon another chance with this recipe, I’ve realized that as long as it’s balanced, bourbon and I can be friends once again! And it’s all thanks to this Bourbon Peach Smash!
Since it’s such a beautifully balanced drink, it’d be perfectly appropriate to serve in the early afternoon before happy hour! It’s one that’ll really impress your guests too!
So let’s get to it!
What You’ll Need to Make a Bourbon Peach Smash
For 1-2 servings
- 1 ripe yellow peach – diced
- 4 oz of bourbon
- 2 oz of honey thyme simple syrup
- juice of 1/2 a lemon
- fresh thyme leaves, lemon wedges, and/or peach slices for garnish
Honey Thyme Simple Syrup:
- 1 cup of honey
- 1 cup of water
- 10-12 thyme sprigs
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until honey is incorporated and take off the heat. Let the syrup steep for about 10-15 minutes before pouring into your glass bottle. To store, keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.
How To Make It
In a cocktail mixer, add the diced peaches, bourbon, honey thyme syrup, and lemon juice. Muddle the peaches well and add crushed ice. Shake for 30 seconds and pour your Bourbon Peach Smash in a glass full of crushed ice. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves and either a lemon or peach wedge and enjoy!
For a Crowd
If you want to make a batch of Bourbon Peach Smash for a crowd, I would change a couple of steps! Instead of muddling the peaches, I would throw everything into a blender instead. It’s much quicker than muddling a basket full of peaches and you can even make them frozen just by adding 1/2 to 1 cup of ice to the blender!
Yes y’all, it’s that simple!
You don’t need a fully stocked and fancy bar for you and your guests to enjoy happy hour! Just simple and fresh ingredients!
