Spring is finally just around the corner and I’m so excited for the fun cocktails and recipes that’ll come with the new season! With the warm weather arriving soon, it only means one thing: spritz season! And to start the season off on the right foot, I’m sharing this fun Pepper Blossom Spritz!

It’s got a spicy jalapeño kick that pairs deliciously with a honey salt rim, making it the perfect first spritz of spring!

What You’ll Need To Make a Pepper Blossom Spritz

• 4 jalapeño slices
• 3 basil leaves, julienned
• 2 oz Gin or Vodka
• 3/4 oz elderflower liqueur
• 1 tbs honey
• 4 oz grapefruit juice
• 6-8 oz of sparkling water

How To Make It

In a cocktail shaker, muddle together the jalapeños, basil, gin, and elderflower liqueur. Then add the honey and grapefruit juice before dry shaking (no ice) to ensure that the honey mixes in.

Then, cover the rim of a spritz glass with some honey and sprinkle on some course salt. I love to use hot honey for this recipe but your favorite honey will do just fine! Add a lot of crushed ice and pour in your pepper blossom mix. Top with your favorite sparkling water and garnish with fresh basil.

To be quite honest, I never really have been a big fan of spritz cocktails. I’ve had the all the classic spritz cocktails that you’ll find on most bar menus and I think I figured out why I never cared for them. They’re usually pretty bland, watered down, and basically a little boring. You know the saying “you eat with your eyes”? Well, I wholeheartedly believe the same phrase when it comes to cocktails. They just taste better when the presentation is on point!

This Pepper Blossom Spritz checks all of the boxes. It’s full of flavor, balanced, and almost too pretty to sip! It’s definitely brought back my faith in a spritz cocktail and can’t wait to see what else can be created!
