Strawberry Basil Simple Syrup

I can’t think of a better summer pairing than strawberries and basil! It’s a classic flavor combination that I’ve always loved creating recipes with. This Strawberry Basil Simple Syrup is a fun and easy way to pack those wonderful flavors into your cocktails, mocktails, teas, and even ice cream!

This recipe takes less than 30 minutes from start to finish, so let’s get to it!

What You’ll Need To Make Strawberry Basil Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup of fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of roughly chopped basil leaves
  • 3/4 cup of honey

How To Make It

In a sauté pan, add all the ingredients and cook on the stovetop on medium heat. Stir occasionally and wait for the honey to melt and for the syrup to start simmering. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes or so until the strawberries are cooked down and the basil is wilted. We want all of these flavors to be released through the cooking process so we have the most flavorful strawberry basil simple syrup.

Set the pan to the side and let the syrup cool for about 15 minutes before the next step.

Carefully strain out the strawberries and basil, and pour the strawberry basil simple syrup into a syrup dispenser (mine is under $6)!

For storing, the best way is to use an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to two weeks.

I’ve been loving creating these fun simple syrup recipes lately! As much as I love freshly muddled fruit and herbs in my drinks, it’s so easy and convenient to have a syrup already prepped and ready to pour.
