The Ella Fitzgerald

This cocktail has some sentimental value to me, because it’s the first cocktail I ordered while Chris and I were on our honeymoon in Miami. The name was the first thing that caught my eye because I am a big time Ella Fitzgerald fan. Call me an old soul, but I could listen to classic jazz at any given time (especially my gal Ella). Also, the Ella Fitzgerald was the first cocktail recipe I posted to my blog!

If you’re reading this now, I did a little refresh on this post just to bring things up to date, but the cocktail tastes just as good as I last remembered! I did tweak just a few things but this precious recipe still tugs at my sentimental heartstrings.

So let’s get to it!

What You’ll Need to Make the Ella Fitzgerald

  • 2 oz Gin
  • 1 oz Aperol
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • 3/4 oz honey rosemary simple syrup
  • 3 dashes of aromatic bitters
Ella Fitzgerald

How to Make It

First, chill your coupe glass by either sticking it in the freezer or fill it will ice while mixing up your Ella Fitzgerald cocktail. This cocktail is a spin on the classic Fitzgerald because we’re adding Aperol to jazz things up (see what I did there) and I also added some rosemary honey simple syrup for an extra layer of flavor.

In a cocktail glass filled with ice, add all ingredients and shake with a vigor until your drink is well chilled. Pour into the chilled coupe glass and garnish with a lemon wheel and rosemary sprig. These adorable mini clothespins make the cutest garnish accessories!
