Blood Orange Gin Fizz
This Blood Orange Gin Fizz cocktail combines two of my favorite things in the cocktail world: blood orange season and a good gin fizz! The gorgeous red hue of this blood orange gin fizz makes it one of my favorites to make in the dead of winter for some color or for Valentine’s Day.
Whatever reason you choose, this is a great cocktail that I can’t wait to share with y’all, so let’s get to it!

What You’ll Need To Make a Blood Orange Gin Fizz
for one serving
- 2 oz blood orange juice, freshly squeezed
- 3/4 oz lime juice
- 3/4 oz elderflower liqueur
- 2 oz gin
- splash of sparkling water or ginger beer
- 1 egg white (optional, but worth it for the real thing)
How To Make a Blood Orange Gin Fizz
- Prepare the Glass: Start by chilling an old fashioned style glass in the freezer. This is essential for a gin fizz so it stays cold while sipping and enjoying.
- Combine the Base Ingredients: In a shaker, combine your favorite gin, freshly squeezed blood orange and lime juice , and elderflower liqueur.
- Add the Egg White (optional but highly encouraged): Crack open an egg and carefully separate the white. Add it to the shaker. The egg white serves a dual purpose—it adds a luxurious frothiness to the cocktail and helps balance the acidity of the citrus.
- Dry Shake: Seal the shaker and shake vigorously without ice (dry shake) for about 10-15 seconds. This emulsifies the egg white, creating a velvety texture for your cocktail.
- Add Ice and Shake Again: Fill the shaker with ice cubes and shake once more. This chills the mixture and gives the drink a refreshing chill.
- Strain into the Glass: Strain your gorgeous and velvety blood orange gin fizz into your chilled glass.
- Top with Bubbles: Complete your masterpiece by topping off your gin fizz with sparkling water or ginger beer. The bubbles adds a delightful fizz, adding a little extra mixology sophistication to your homemade cocktail.
- Garnish with Style: Garnish with slices of blood orange and a sprig of fresh rosemary.
